A Weekend in Marrakech

Two days is enough to fall in love with Marrakech. Here's exactly how to spend them — no wasted time, no tourist traps.

Optimised for 48 hours
City + one day trip
Only the highlights
Budget-friendly options

A weekend in Marrakech is more than enough time to experience the best of the city — if you plan it well. The medina is compact, the main sights are close together, and the best day trips are within 90 minutes.

The secret to a great two-day Marrakech visit is restraint: do fewer things, do them properly, and leave space to get pleasantly lost in the souks.

What's included

Day 1 morning: the medina

Start with a guided walk through the souks, Bahia Palace and Ben Youssef Medersa. Three hours covers the essentials without rushing.

Common questions

Is 2 days enough for Marrakech?

Yes — if you focus on the highlights. You can comfortably see the medina, a garden or two, Jemaa el-Fnaa and fit in one day trip. Three days is more relaxed, but two works well.

Should I do a day trip on a weekend visit?

If you have two full days, yes — spend one in the city and one outside it. The Ourika Valley or Agafay desert are the best options for short trips (90 minutes each way).

What about Friday and Saturday?

The souks are slightly quieter on Friday (midday prayer) and busy on Saturday. Restaurants and activities run every day.
