Safe neighbourhood tips

Marrakech is absolutely doable as a solo female traveller, but it helps to go in with your eyes open. The medina can feel intense — the attention from vendors and some locals is real — and knowing which areas to avoid after dark, how to dress and which operators to trust makes a genuine difference.

We work with female guides and vetted operators, and we stay available on WhatsApp throughout your stay so you always have a local to message if you need advice or feel uncomfortable.

What's included

Private female guide

A local woman who knows the medina inside out. She shows you the real city — artisan workshops, hidden cafes, rooftop views — and handles any unwanted attention so you can relax and enjoy.

Small group tours

Join a small group for activities like cooking classes, food tours or hammam visits. A natural way to meet other travellers.

Hammam & spa day

A traditional hammam is a social ritual in Morocco. We recommend women-only sessions at reputable spas where you will feel comfortable.

Common questions

Is Marrakech safe for a woman travelling alone?

Generally yes, with precautions. The medina is busy and safe during the day. At night, stick to well-lit main streets and avoid the quieter alleys. Verbal harassment (cat-calling) happens but physical incidents targeting tourists are very rare. A confident manner and modest dress reduce unwanted attention significantly.

What should I wear?

Cover your shoulders and knees. A loose linen shirt and long trousers or a maxi skirt are comfortable in the heat and respectful of local norms. You do not need to cover your hair.

Should I book a guide or go alone?

A guide for your first day is highly recommended — it orients you, builds confidence and shows you how to handle the souks. After that, many women explore happily on their own.

Can I eat alone in restaurants?

Absolutely. Marrakech has many tourist-friendly restaurants where solo diners are normal. Rooftop cafes around Jemaa el-Fnaa are a great option.
